Send-Off Party

if you haven’t heard yet, it’s official:( the florenzies are moving:(

and not just moving around the corner, they are moving to JAPAN!!! and it’s happening soo fast…this will be their last sunday with us @ LHC & LHCyouth. they’ve really been an amazing part of our ministry so we thought it only fair to throw them a little send-off party.

we’ll be meeting in the cafe right after church and playing games, eating, and laughing together. the party will last till 4pm when we end by praying blessings over them and sending them off as ambassadors for Christ to Japan. don’t miss out on this great chance to party and celebrate…and bring you’re favorite florenzie stories with you:):)

iCamp update

so we got here…a little unorthodox, but we got here:)

cargo van got here late, bus got up late, and the band didn’t get here till about 930…an hour and a 1/2 later than our sesssion…

but the amazing thing is, God was in control of it all! i really think He had a plan in mind that was way better than what we put together. we started our week out with some amazing ideas and conversations about what it really means to live for Christ. we dove into Gal 2:20 and tried to explore what it means to be dead to ourselves but alive in Christ!

it was a great night…

today has been spent hanging out with God in our small groups and by ourselves, eating fantastic food, finding tiny farm animals dropped by the barnyard spaceship, and catching high speed water balloons without getting killed.

tonight we get to look into what it means to serve each other and explore what Jesus did with his disciples on the last night he was with them; foot washing….

i think the students will love it…

Day one

day one was not a normal day one:

we started out by getting here yesterday and registering, only to head out to the mall.

while we were there we got the idea to all buy shirts for each other…they were $7.50 at steve and barry’s so te guys picked out the girls shirts and vice-versa. would you believe we picked out the same shirt!!! here it is in all it’s wonderfulnesss…and we’re all wearing them right now!!!
Brute Squad

Then we went to our 1st session, who you would think would be all high energy and up beat. not so much. the whole idea of this conference is to get us to think about our faith, not think in a completely intellectual mind way, but to think with our hearts and interact with Scripture through many different avenues. with no pomp and circumstance invloved, we just worshipped God for a good 30 minutes, no words, no images, no show…just dave powers and his wife tara guiding us along. it was amazing…refreshing…rejuvenating.

Then Jason came up and talked a little but about how we view evangelism. really solid thoughts on how it’s not always about leading someone to Christ, it more about advancing them in their thoughts about Christ, because God may use someone else to lead them to Christ. we al have different roles in sharing our faith, but we are all called to do it.

then we spent another good 15 minutes in worship and got ready to head back to campus for some games and bedtime.

just had breakfast and now everyone is spending an hour alone with God, no guidelines, no questions, no fill in the blanks…just a good hour chilling with their Saviour…speaking of…i’m going to be with Him now~

Encounter…here we come!

our sr highers leave for encounter in an hour…this is CRAZY!!!

please pray for us:
1) that we would hear from God and respond
2) that all our travels would be safe
3) that we have a fun time connecting with each other

i’ll do everything i can to update constantly through out the week…maybe i’ll even have the students take a shot at the blog:) who knows~~

30 Hour famine - update 5

long day…but everyones doing well~

GREAT service projects this morning…everyone seemed to really get a lot out of working in morristown and with local families from the church who needed help.

when we returned, we took place in civil war dodgeball…WITH OUR DISABILITIES! again, it was awesome to see all our churches just playing together. no differences, just playing.

everyone is now out playing BIGGER, BETTER, BEST. they started with a paper clip and we’ll see what they’ve all traded up for. will def post pics later on tonight/tomorrow. i’ve heard one group got a leather jacket, we’ll see if they can trade that up…but it sounded pretty good:)

we’re about to have communion in 45 minutes…pray that our kids will connect with what Christ is doing.
