Retreats

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas all!

i hope and pray that Christmas for you this year is full of fun, celebration, and joy fueled around you passion and love for Jesus and his birth.  Take some time these next couple of days to be a blessing to those around you and show the never ending love of Christ~

and thanks again to all the leaders and parents who helped pull off the retreat last weekend.  there is no way it could’ve happened w/o you and i’m sooooo thankful for your help and support in the ministry.  so many amazing things happened on so many levels i would have to write a 10 pages blog to get it all in;)  thanks so much giving time this weekend~ jd

Winter CHANGE - day 1

well day 1 is in the books~ after a CRAZY night of people coming in in waves, snow coming in sheets, and the Holy Spirit coming in power.

after some time playing games and relaxing, we had our 1st session…focused around the idea that “Grace Meets You Right Where You’re At.”  we’ve been diving into John 4 and just being ministered to by the Word. It’s been awesome…then we’ve been paralleling that to the movie “Bella”…been really cool~

i’ll try to update through out the day as we go…thanks for the prayers!!

Winter change 08

i totally need to commend those of you who prayed for snow, because it looks like we’re gonna get some:)

the only problem is that it’s coming a day late…if it came today we’d totally be sledding and snowball fighting out in PA…but since it’s supposed to come all day tomorrow, we’re at a serious lose.  it’s looks as though the retreat at Harmony Heart Camp has to be reworked a little…

SOOO…we’ve figured out a way to have all the groups meet here at LHC and put the retreat on here!!  HOW SWEET IS THAT?!   we didn’t just want to up and cancel everything b/c we know how much we’ve all been looking forward this weekend…so we are reworking the whole thing!  it’s going to be TOTALLY AWESOME…

here’s the new details…ready?:

arrive @ LHCgym: 6pm (or whatever time is safest for you)

what to pack: same stuff as befrore + LOTS of snow clothes…since we know we’ve got it outside…we gotta make use of it (working on some fun outside stuff:))

what not to pack: cell phones, iPods, mp3 players, personal video game systems~

pick-up will be @ LHCgym @ 10pm on Saturday night so we avoid the next wave of snow on Sunday~

if you have any questions, email me from the contact page and i’ll get back to you as soon as i can!

can’t wait to retreat with you all this weekend:)

WINER CAMP 08

can you believe in just about 2 days we’ll be heading out to jermyn, pa for our winter camp?  this  year is going to be especially awesome b/c we are joining up with 2 other youth ministries (New Life Fellowship & South Branch Community Church).  there will be almost 70 of us total!!

we’re looking at a snowy weekend too:) so make sure to pack nice WARM clothes! our hope and prayer is that we don’t get stuck again at the camp, that was quiet the experience last year.

so the details for the weekend, just in case you tossed your reg form out go as follows:

12/19 - meeting at LHC @ 5pm –> hit up McDonalds on the way up –> Get to HHC

12/21 - arrive back at LHC @ 4pm (barring a snow delay…which if it happens, all updates will be posted here on LHCyouth.com and sent out as an email to all parents [if you'd like to get those, please email me your address via the contact page])

please be sure to pack your BIBLE, notebook, & pen in addition to all the normal get away stuff for the weekend.   you’re def going to need it.  don’t bother packing your cell phones, iPods, mp3 players, and personal gaming systems…b/c if we see them up there we get to keep them:)  and i could def use a new iPod;)

we’re praying for you!!

Christmas in Full Swing

Well, it’s finally here in full swing. Mass media pushes, tons of catalogs, and Christmas carols in every store possible. Whether you like it not, Christmas season is happening.

Now i’ll be completely honest…i’m not the biggest Christmas fan. I LOVE celebrating Jesus, but all the other “stuff” makes me sick. we have to compromise in our house for music. eileen LOVES
Christmas carols and i can’t stand them, so we listen to this. i think it’s a healthy compromise and i get to dance around the kitchen with my kids:)

although i’m not a huge fan of the business, there are a couple parts to the season that i do like.

1) The LHCyouth Christmas Banquet - this is one of those events that i think everyone really looks forward to. the opportunity to dress up and celebrate together is AWESOME. this is happening THIS SUNDAY in fellowship hall…tickets are $10 in advance & $15 on Sunday. we would ask that you bring a $5 white elephant gift as well~

and don’t forget about the pictures!!

2) Winter Camp - i think the real reason i love this weekend away is b/c it sets my mind to what really matters with Christmas day only a couple days after the retreat. i love the refocusing and the refreshment it provides my soul. hopefully we won’t get snowed in again this year though:)

are you a HUGE Christmas fan? or are you more like me? i’d love to hear from you:)
